All of you paying attention to the outrage over EA charging customers… err, I mean gamers for guns probably know that EA has essentially given in.
Due to the extreme hate, and even potential boycotting by sites like sacasticgamer.com, EA has announced that there will be no prices attached to those downloadable guns. Great, right?
I dunno… as reported by IGN, you now will unlock those games by hitting the maximum level in the game (rank 25) and you can download the guns. EA says they’re balanced with the rest so they won’t make too much a difference if they don’t have them, so don’t worry.
Oh, but that’s not the ‘I dunno’ part. This is: There will be an additional five guns that will be available for download once you sign up for “EA marketing programs.” Uhh, what? According to IGN, they were told that it was as easy as signing up for a newsletter. Which, Giant Bomb points out, is giving out your information for a in game content.
So… essentially, instead of trading money for in game content… you’re selling your information.
The thing that worries me… is if that is successful… it won’t stop.
Remember all, if you don’t agree with something… DON’T BUY IT. Sometimes, money speaks louder than words.
